Bill Passed

So... No public option, but still....Kids are covered until 26 yrs old. No more being denied for pre-existing conditions. A lot of good things. Stay tuned for details.

Timeline

Here's an interesting graphic that explains what kicks in and when. It seems like an incomplete list but the best I've seen so far. Clickon the image for the full size.

You Smell That?

Could it be victory?

It looks like the bill, some bill, will pass. The question is, still... Will it have a Public Option?

Dedicate to nurses everywhere

You smell that?... You smell that?

Clorox son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.

I love the smell of Clorox in the morning.

You know we had a shit bomb, for twelve hours and when it was all over, I walked up the hall. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinking bedpan...

It's that smell, you know, that Clorox smell... The whole floor... 'smells like victory.

Someday this shift is gonna end...

OK. I'll admit it...

Exhausted...

Yes, I admit, I became exhausted trying to run this website. I tried really hard, and did so as a vent to my frustration and energy that I felt while the Health Care Reform movement was gaining momentum. As I saw the monomentum slow, I slowed my involvement, and for that, I appologize. This fight is far from over, and even if some legislation is passed, I am sure it will be weak and in need of improvement.

The fight is renewed. It's been on for generations. It's time to get back in the ring, again.

Joe The Plunger

Doing a shitty job

How do you convince a man he is wrong when he has nothing to lose? Joe Lieberman has another 4 years before he's up for reelction and likely won't run. Joe has decided that he might side with republicans when it comes to giving the health care reform bill an up or down vote in the Senate. He might help the Republicans fillibuster the bill.

Joe may have been a Vice Presidential candidate for the Democrats in 2000, but even before then he was only a half Democrat at best. For military and financial matters, he would often side with conservatives. On social issues, he was a fairly dependable Democrat, until Bush 2 came along. Liberty took a back seat to social justice. Several Democratic Senators were guilty of the same thing, but this was the only area in which Lieberman was in allignment with the Democrats. Once that was gone, he was a Democrat in name only, and that name isn't even there anymore. He had to run as an independent because the Democratic party in the State of Connecticut rejected him. He ran, and won using health care money, potentially blood money, to win his seat back.

So here's Joe. Propped up by Insurance money, not needing another vote for another election and soon to be looking for a job, presumably in the healthcare industry. What's Joe going to do? Hopefully Joe is just padding his resume on his way out. He's already done so much for the industry. They owe him a cushy board position. Maybe some speaking engagements for an inflated fee. Hopefull Joe will raise some objections and offer an amendment and be able to say in the interview "Hey, I tried!".

So here we are. Needing Joe? Maybe. Let's buy him off just to be sure. Wait. I can't afford that, and I'm guessing that collectively, we couldn't either.

Again, I ask...How do you convince a man he is wrong when he has nothing to lose?

Shame.

If he can feel pride, he can feel shame.
